ABOUT US

The Zomi Welfare Organization (ZWO) is a non-profit organization. It was formed on the 30th October 2006, by a high calibre team of young professionals, families and students of the Zomi community residing in the UK to collaborate individual efforts to promote the Zomi community and other under privileged communities in and outside the United Kingdom.

Zomis are one of the under privileged tribes; inhabitant of North East India with strong ethnic back ground and distinct culture. It is claimed that the Zomi community is one of the oldest groups of people who settling in Burma and Northeast India.

ZWO intends to unite all highly motivated professionals and students of Zomi community all over the world under one umbrella to facilitate and empower the less fortunate by utilizing competences and resources through innovative schemes in and outside the UK and supporting them towards achieving a better quality of life.

ZWO is committed to social and economic development. Our primary focus is the underprivileged, to help them come out of the cycle of poverty and to facilitate them to achieve a sufficient and fuller life. Therefore, we invite and encourage all like-minded individuals who care to join our organization in our movement for a positive social change.

ZWO takes the challenge and advantage of developed Western (British) community to identify the needs and requirements of ethnic communities by exploring available resources in the UK and elsewhere, in the field of education, Skills development, social welfare and healthcare services.
